Body Of Place
This series more directly explores emotions and memories from the places, people, and cultures that have shaped my personal and artistic life (Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Sweden, Iceland, and the United States). Using divergent material (photos cut out from magazines and bits of cloth and paper), I then collaged these items into heavy weight gessoed paper. Into this surface overlays of painting in acrylic and oil were applied to create the desired composition and surface.
